susan1Do you need a speaker for your writing group, book club, or writing conference?

For over twenty years, Susan has been a speaker at writers conferences, teachers conventions, writing groups, and other organizational gatherings. Susan is vice president of Christian Authors Network (CAN), a member of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), the Association of Women Speakers & Authors (AWSA), and Evangelical Press Association (EPA). She has taught writing workshops for many writers conferences including internationally, and at the Colorado Christian Writers Conference, Writing for the Soul Conference, Write-to-Publish Conference, Baptist Press Journalism Conference, Evangelical Press Association (EPA), ACFW-CS, Springs Writers, and others. Susan also mentors writers and editors, leads a monthly writers group, and co-leads the regional EPA meetings.

FOR WRITERS EVENTS:

Words that Work. Like producing a symphony, creating a written work of art takes vision, hard work, skill—and teamwork. We’ll talk about how to hone your vision, work effectively, develop your skills, and work with your editor well.

Making Sense of it All. It’s easy to lose the beauty of the moment, an awareness of the senses, delight in the small things, and the sweet simplicity that can make your writing life, and your writing itself so full and vibrant. Come for a hands-on workshop to ignite your creativity in a whole new way, engage your senses, and be amazed how it’ll bring your writing alive!

Self-Editing Made Easy. For creative writers, editing your own work can be daunting. This session provides you a step-by-step way to edit your own writing project.

Writing an Amazing Magazine Article. You’ve got a great idea. Here’s a step-by-step way to take your idea and make it an amazing article for publication.

Writing an Amazing Query Letter. Query letter? What’s that? Whether you are writing it for an article or for a book editor to read, come and find out how to create an amazing query letter that editors will stop and notice!

For Editors:

The Writer-Editor Dance. How can a writer and editor create masterful work, stay in sync, and prevent miscommunication? Learn some secrets to effective writer-editor collaboration. Topics will include: making effective assignments, respecting the author, why maintaining voice matters, and the benefits of open communication and developing a relationship.
